Aspen

John and I went to Aspen with his family for their spring break last week. Neither of us had been to Aspen before and it was beautiful! It was a lot smaller than I had imagined, but it was this quaint little city surrounded by mountains all around. John and I decided it was a little like a neighborhood in Manhattan because everyone was walking everywhere, with their dogs; parking was scarce and there were high end shops and restaurants everywhere! :)

I've never been skiing this late in the season and apparently it's a little chancy what the conditions will be like, but we lucked out and it was perfect! We had fresh powder the whole time we were there. And oh the powder, I had forgotten what it was like to have so much of it!I took another snowboarding lesson since I'm still learning. I signed up for a group lesson but because it was so late in the season the resort was pretty empty and I got a private lesson all day. It was fantastic!!! My snowboard instructor basically held my hand the whole way down the mountain and then once I got comfortable he took my camera and took videos of me snowboarding (I'm super excited because I'm always the one taking pictures and so I'm never in them). Disregard the snow all over my rear end and me falling at the end of the video, I totally didn't do that the whole time ;)

The down side to all of this snowboarding is how incredibly sore it makes me. After two full days of snowboarding I was so sore it hurt to do ANYTHING! It even hurt to lift my drink to my mouth my arms we so sore! We definitely had to take it easy a couple of days and just enjoy the food and sites Aspen had to offer. It was a great trip and really nice to get out of the city for a little while. The super crazy part is that the night before we left Aspen it was like a blizzard and when we flew into NYC the next day it was 90 degrees!
